The LBLL Major Braves took their tribe on the road Saturday to face the SSLL Pirates at Ernie Howlett Field. When the dust settled, the Braves stayed undefeated, notching a 9 - 5 win and remaining the last undefeated Majors team on the Hill.

The action started early with the Braves' Cole Harper getting the start.  Harper was strong throughout the contest, but gave up a two-run homer to the Pirates clean-up hitter James Humphrey in the 1st inning. Overall, Harper put 60% of his pitches over the plate for strikes, giving up four runs in two innings of work.  Harper helped himself later with two great at bats and multiple RBI's.  The Braves also benefitted from strong performances by Wes Wang, Franco Correa and Chance "Mr. Consistency" Voytilla on the mound to keep the contest close.  Overall, the entire Braves' pitching staff combined for six K's on the day.

Despite a sluggish start the Braves eventually found their footing. At the end of the 3rd, they found themselves down 5-1, needing a spark. That is when the bats finally came alive up and down the entire lineup. Kent Kraemer led the Braves hitting attack, and proved to be that spark as he blasted a pair of doubles and drove in three runs overall.  Bennett Hong, Joey Beviliacqua, Dabe Nwude, and Luke Lohman also contributed valuable hits -- with Lohman also accounting for an RBI.

After the game the Braves Skipper Shannon Townley seemed visibly shaken over two early miscues of his own -- both resulting in Braves runners being thrown out at home.  Townley was overheard telling his team that he thought he was being smart, but "as it turns out there are only two authentic geniuses in the world: WIllie Mays and Willie Shakespeare".

The Braves will be back in action this Saturday at 1:30PM against the PVLL Cubs.
