A battle ensued on the major field Tuesday eve as The Intermediate Dodgers overcame a very powerful Cub team to secure a spot in this Saturdays Championship game. After a shaky start, Cubs pitcher Antonio settled in to strike out four Dodgers during a respectable 4 and a third innings. Dodgers Pitcher Laton Hunter went the better part of four innings as well, striking out 8.
The Courage of The Century award goes to Cubs Siempre Lopez as he took a hard shot to the mouth on a deep fly ball hit to left field. Not only did he complete the play with a mouth full of blood, he regrouped to hit a hard line-drive down the first base side in his next at bat.
Kudos to Siempre for showing the grit of a true Ball player. Dodger infielders Hunter and Voytilla worked some magic gloving several hard hit shots to short and firing off great throws to first baseman Alex Ioannou who could not have been more limber in his stretch.
It got a bit dicey in the final inning with the Cubs forging a comeback off a well hit triple in the sixth inning scoring two runs. Dodger Closer Luke Lohman called upon rock steady nerves with the go ahead run at the plate finishing the game in style leaving two ducks on the pond.
The winner of Thursdays Cubs / Angels game (Thurs @ 5:00pm) will face the Dodgers on the major field at 8:30am this Saturday. Bring your coffee and bare witness to what should be an amazing Championship Game!
