The Major Diamondbacks played a 50/70 game at Silver Spur against the Silver Spur Dodgers, and both teams had their bats working. Both teams reached double digit runs before the fourth inning ended. Then bad luck struck the SS Dodgers, who were playing with the minimum nine players, as a player fell ill and they were unable to field a legal team, handing the Diamondbacks a forfeit victory.
The Diamondbacks benefited from good pitching performances from Telmo Corral and Cole Harper, who did well from the longer 50’ distance and dealing with runners leading off. Donovan Capozzola reached base and scored three times and made several nice plays at first base to complete outs from infielders Scott Barrios and Navraj Singh. The Diamondbacks also saw great defense from their call-ups: Wesley Wang and Holton Tyler had several nice catches in the outfield, Tanner Grogan showed a rocket arm from right field, and Sullivan Townley and Stefen Brende played like pros at catcher and shortstop. For the terrific team effort the team was rewarded with postgame pizza at nearby Lamppost.
The Diamondbacks play another 50/70 game on Saturday at Silver Spur at 11:00 against the Silver Spur Braves, and then look forward to returning to LBLL to finish the regular season against the LB Cubs and start the playoffs, all with the hope of seeing the end of their season be less Alice in Wonderland and more Cinderella!
