The LB Intermediate Angels produced multiple BIG innings Monday evening in an 18 - 3 victory over their division rival, the LB Intermediate Astros. Stefen Brende took the mound for the Astros, and looked very strong to start to game. Sully Townley started, and finished the game for the Angels, and has been the Angel's "go-to" pitcher over the first half of the season. The Astros hit well early, including a solid RBI producing, hard hit ground ball by the Astros "Miller Time" Hernandez. As the game progressed, it was clear the Angel's game plan was to attack the baseball. Every player on the Angels roster scored, and Ian "Drago" Malishka scored two inside the park home runs in the same inning.
The turning point of the game seemed to come early in the game when the Astro's manager deployed a unique, John Taffer, Bar Rescue strategy to get his players fired up. Cotton McKnight and Pepper Brooks from ESPN 8 (The Ocho) had the call as the events unfolded. Cotton was was informed during the broadcast that the NCAA Championship game was all tied up, so the Astros manager, a UVA graduate, needed a plan to watch the game. Pepper replied on the air, "It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pay off for 'em".
The Angels and the Astros will both be back in action this Saturday!
