From the President (2012 Season)
We had a truly special Opening Day in 2010 which celebrated our major Plaza renovation project. In 2011 we had another very special Opening Day to celebrate our Challenger Division, which is for special needs kids throughout the greater Peninsula area. Our new Challenger kids will lead our Opening Day parade again in 2012.
Lunada Bay Little League’s mission statement is that we are a recreational league that is focused on the experience of the 12th kid on each team.
We want every kid to have an enjoyable and memorable experience.
When you see our facility on Opening Day it will be even nicer. The fields have been redone with new softer dirt. We are blessed to have the Peninsula's finest Little League facility! Since 2010, we have accomplished or initiated the following:
- A completely renovated family friendly plaza area with new trees, picnic tables, entry landscaping, etc.
- A completely revamped and expanded website
- Placed a Farm game on the Minor field every Saturday afternoon
- Initiated a “no steal” rule in the Minors for the first half of the season (we want to accelerate their understanding of force plays early.)
- Reintroduced a manager evaluation survey which has been sent to all parents the last two seasons.
- Initiated a Coaches Clinic Program to improve their training and to help them optimize learning for our players during practices
- A new Challenger Division for special needs kids.
- Reseeded, aerated and manicured both the Minor and Major fields.
- Put new artificial surface materials in the pitching lanes next to the batting cages.
- Started having one T-Ball game on the Major field for every team.
As you can see from our past accomplishments, we have a terrific group of Board Members. Kevin Shannon, Dave McCann, Bill Foltz, Steve Gherardi, Mike McKay, Martin Griffiths, Kim Stoneman, Gregg Jahelka, Bill McBride, Craig Quinn, Ned Sasaki and Stacy Fuchino provide a hardworking and dedicated Board of Directors.
