In Finale - a few things things off the top of my head that I will
not forget this year...

Matthew Buchanan's big hits and big throws from 3rd Base. Who could forget the balls Matthew banged off the fence this year in big games?

Cary Daum's incredible growth as a first year player. Who could forget Cary's two important hits in our first play off game?

Nigel Griffiths' slick fielding at shortstop and timely pitching in big games. Who could forget Nigel's jaw opening play at PV Little
League from shortstop?

Thomas Hill's big glove, fast legs and improving bat. Who could forget the incredible catch he made in last night's playoff game?

Aidan Kuykendall some kid I know a little with our team's highest batting average. Who could forget his gutty performance last night
pitching and hitting in the clutch?

Erik Moore a true team leader with a strong arm, speed on the bases and a solid bat. Who could forget the four inning masterpiece he
pitched versus the Reds for a big win?

Matthew Nagy our super tough catcher whose arm and bat were feared all year long by our opponents. Who could forget his massive shot
against the Reds in our first playoff game?

Jack Quinn our lefty ace pitcher, our lead off hitter extraordinaire. Who could forget the masterful four innings of pitching and the huge bomb he hit in our first win over the Padres?

Deacon Richard for all the strides he made at the plate and with his glove as the season went along. Who can forget Deacon's big hit in our first playoff game versus the Reds?

Patrick Shannon for all the huge hitting and die hard base running all season. Who could forget Patrick almost putting one out of the park versus the Padres on a massive shot?

Garrett Smith for his great improvement at the plate and his fun spirit. Who could forget Garrett's big opposite field inside the park homer in one of our last regular season games?

LB Dodgers 18 - SS Yankees 22

Game Recap:

After a 1, 2, 3 first inning, some of the Dodger pitchers couldn't seem to find the plate the rest of the night making for one of the wildest strangest games ever seen at Lunada Bay Little League. Although the Dodgers did get a very solid effort out of starting shortstop Nigel Griffiths on the hill. The Dodgers who make it a habit of beating just about all the first place teams on the hill and then sometimes losing to the lower teams - did just that again against the Yankees (who had their game of the season). The best attribute of the Dodgers remains their ability to turn a game around no matter what. Down by an incredible 20-5 going into the 5th inning. The Dodgers made a dramatic rally only to lose 18-22. Garrett Smith, Erik Moore and Aidan Kuykendall all contributed three hits apiece. Matthew Buchanan made a great play on a ball at third and swung a heavy bat. Matthew Nagy had his best hit of the season. Jack Quinn made a terrific catch on a pop up from the catcher position.

LB Dodgers 11 vs SS Red Sox 9

The LB Dodgers pulled a victory out of the hat in the final inning.   It wasn't the Dodgers night yet somehow our tenacious bunch never gives up and they squeaked out another victory.   The lower half of the batting order is really to be congratulated for their efforts.  Deacon Richard had his first hit to the outfield all season.  Cary Daum hit his first extra base hit with a double that hugged the right field line.  Thomas Hill was very solid at the plate and made a huge catch on a fly ball.  Matthew Buchanan fought hard at the plate and played a tough third bagger.  With two pitchers out from the Padres game before the trio of Erik Moore, Garrett Smith and Nigel Griffiths fought hard to keep us in the game.  Nigel had his best game of the year on the mound striking out the side in the fifth.

LB Dodgers 11 vs LB Padres 10

The never quit, warrior-like LB Dodgers kept fighting and pulled out a win in the last inning versus an incredibly well coached and talented team in the Padres. The Padres remain the class of the hill both in how good they are and how well the players and coaching staff carry themselves. The Dodgers pitching staff of Aidan Kuykendall starting, Jack Quinn in the middle and Erik Moore closing were lights out in their efforts. Each going two innings a piece. The continued stylish play of Nigel Griffiths at short kept the Dodgers in the game. An incredible catch on a hard chopper by Patrick Shannon late in the game was a huge out. Catchers Matthew Nagy and Garrett Smith played very solidly behind the plate and are both tough outs at the plate. The two big hits for the Dodgers of the day where as opposite as they could be. Aidan Kuykendall hit a hard triple off the fence bringing in several runs. Cary Daum laid down a gorgeous trickling bunt that started a huge rally. Everyone in the league is beginning to wonder. Is this really Carry Daum's first year of little league baseball. He is pretty darn good. On the Padres side of things Quinn Stoneman hit two absolute bombs. The first one which extremely close to going out. The kids on the Dodgers have never given up on any game and remain the scrappiest bunch on the hill. When we were down in the game Deacon Richard was heard loudly telling his teammates "its nothing, we are gonna come back!". Down 10-9 going into the bottom of the sixth inning the Dodgers pulled off a big one and won 11-10 in a thriller.

LB Dodgers 9 vs PV Giants 6

On a windy, cold, ready to rain night the Dodgers Aidan Kuykendall stepped up and pitched three very solid innings as the starting pitcher to lead the Dodgers to victory versus a tough never quite PV Giants squad. The Dodgers continued to hit the ball well however biggest was Patrick Shannon who had a break out game going 3-3 - all being key hits. While he'll remain nameless, his dad while serving as scorekeeper was beside himself behind the plate and had to be escorted from the field after the game with a big grin on his face.

He alleged it was because he had a long of travel for work but we all knew better. Out in the field, Erik Moore made two amazing catches on fly balls . One of which ended the game. Starting catcher Matthew Nagy played left field the last inning and caught a ball at the fence for one of the final outs! Jack Quinn continued to be a hot lead off hitter. And, his dad (who must remain nameless as well) came and did a great job of not only warming the kids up but also putting them in stitches with his Manny Ramirez wig. That or he isn't as Irish as he claims. A really great effort from the Big Blue Wrecking Crew on a night that was more suited for football. As always the coaches were very proud of our team - not only with how they played but also the class they showed and how they lifted each other up. Go Dodgers!

LB Dodgers 4 vs PV Reds 11

The dangerous LB Dodgers had one of those weird days where some kids showed up distracted, others late and suffered for it early. The Big Blue Wrecking Crew was down 8-0 after two innings of play. As always, they showed their grit by digging in and battling back with some big hits and strong pitching late. Just a little too late.

They will be back and stronger for this game. The frustrated Dodger team learned a harsh lesson which drew some to tears over what many of the team felt to be bad umpiring. There were many great individual efforts mixed into the game including the best fielding of any shortstop I've seen in the intermediate level by Nigel Griffiths. The Dodger bats remain one of their best assets with Patrick Shannon, Aidan Kuykendall and Erik Moore all going 2-3. Matthew Nagy had a hug hit and showed his powerful arm at catcher all day.

LB Dodgers 12 vs PV Mets 16

In a wild free swinging slug out the PV Mets prevailed over the never quit LB Dodgers 16-12. Coming back from Spring Break the Dodgers
pitchers where "a little" wild except for Jack Quinn who put in a very solid final two innings. Dodgers bats clearly did not get lost on vacation with with Nigel Griffiths going 2-3 with a walk, Aidan Kuykendall 3-4 with a double, Eric Moore 2-3 with a walk, and big Matthew Nagy had his best hitting game of the season going 3-4.

Garrett Smith busted out of a slump with a cracking shot to the outfield on the final play of the game and stopped at least a dozen passed balls as a dynamite catcher. Garrett was quoted after the game saying "Do you know how much pressure was on me?!". Cary Daum had an amazing catch on a long fly ball and his smile made up for all the balls that our team didn't quite catch on a cold Monday night.

LB Dodgers 15 vs SS Dodgers 12

Game Recap:

In a wild high scoring fest the LB Dodgers continued their torrid hitting pace into the break on a freezing cold night at Silver Spur Little League. The boys beat a tough Silver Spur Dodger team that had only lost one game coming in. Our first four hitters were nearly unstoppable. Lead off hitter Jack Quinn was 3-3 with a walk (including a single, double and triple) at the plate. Number two hitter Nigel Griffiths went 3-4. Three hitter Aidan Kuykendall went 4-4 (with three doubles). And, finally clean up hitter Erik Moore also went a perfect 4-4. Matthew Nagy caught a great game and added a long double deep to the outfield. Garrett Smith provided very solid defense at catcher and second base and got on twice. Thomas Hill added two beautiful singles. Another great team effort by the LB Dodgers to close out the game strong for another big win.

LB Dodgers 12 LB Padres 10

The gutty LB Dodgers grabbed a big win against the undefeated and ever dangerous LB Padres in a nail biter. The Dodgers had huge hits throughout the batting order. Patrrick Shannon hit a bomb that landed near the warning track. Matthew Buchanan had a smashing double. Cary Daum hit two hard singles up the middle. A true team effort with every kid on the team being part of the win one way or another. On the mound, stylish Jack Quinn went three innings for the first time. Matthew Nagy came on in relief and gave a great effort. After starting the season slow the Dodgers are becoming one of the more tough teams on the hill. We are all so proud of them.

RH Rockies 8 LB Dodgers 7

It an exciting roller coaster kinda game. The Dodgers came back from being down 7-2 to seemingly be on the verge of pulling out the game only to have the game end on a "controversial" call. A real baseball game!

The story of the night was the Dodgers call up from the stands of coach Kevin Shannon. The "rookie" coach was as worried, excited, happy and upset as every kid there. The big softy was terrific with the kids and could be heard all the way to the Lunada Bay Market cheering the team on.

Errors hurt the Dodgers early. Good pitching and timely hitting brought the Big Blue Wrecking Crew almost all the way back. Catcher Matthew Nagy gunned out a runner late in the game keeping things very close. Jack Quinn hit a hard inside the park homer down the right field line. Matthew Buchanan hit a scorching triple to bring the Dodgers back to life. Aidan Kuykendall went 3-3 at the plate. Deacon Richard walked three times in smart fashion. And, last but hardly least Thomas Hill made a great catch and went all out trying to score the tying run on the game's last play.

LB Reds 4 LB Dodgers 8

In a very tough game the Dodgers prevailed against a strong Reds team with great defense and strong pitching. Eric Moore pitched four innings with a low pitch counting. Throwing strikes and trusting his defense. The defense was led by Aidan Kuykendall, Nigel Griffiths, Matthew Buchanan, and Thomas Hill. Jack Quinn provided a lead off in the park home run to begin the game and set the tone. First year little leaguer Cary Daum had the first hit of his little league career and played solid all the way around. Very proud of all of the kids and the team spirit and class of both teams.

PV Yankees 18 LB Dodgers 9
With key players on vacation and few sick the Dodgers had a rough night. Although the game was tied 9-9...except the third inning where the dastardly PV Yanks put up nine runs on few hits. The normally sharp pitching and "D" of the Dodgers went out the window for the first time this season. Very proud of the way the boys fought back and continued to swing big bats. Jack Quinn had the breakout game he has been waiting for with several big hits. Thomas Hill came in and pitched his first game of the season and did an admirable job. Matthew Buchanan had the biggest hit of the night banging a ball hard off the fence for a triple. The big blue wrecking crew show a lot of heart and will continue to develop into a contender as they season goes along.

LB Dodgers 12 beat the SS Pirates 6
Absolute great team effort with all twelve players hitting the ball today. First year little leaguer Cary Daum stopped a hard grounder and stepped on the bag to end the game. Thomas Hill made a great catch off a hard line drive at second base. Patrick Shannon made a huge catch on a high fly ball to left. Catcher Matthew Nagy made a hard core tag out at the plate on a attempted steal home and showed a cannon arm. Nigel Griffiths hit a beautiful inside the park homer. Erik Moore and Aidan Kuykendall got on all three at bats. Starting pitcher Jack Quinn set the tone with a dynamite first inning.

Intermediate Interleague - LB Dodgers 7 and RH Dodgers 4

LB Dodgers stepped up against a very good Rolling Hills team tonight for a big win. Great pitching from Nigel Griffiths, Jack Quinn, Matthew Nagy and Erik Moore. Aidan Kuykendall came a few feet from hitting one out dead center on a towering sky shot. Garrett Smith hit a beautiful inside the park homer. Patrick Shannon, Deacon Richard and Matthew Buchanan all had key hits. Fantastic team effort.
